Sanitation workers escalate agitation, demand state government dialogue

Sanitation workers affiliated with the Uzhaippor Urimai Iyakkam have announced plans to escalate their agitation, warning of fresh protests at strategically selected venues if the state administration does not engage in meaningful negotiations.

K. Bharathi, president of the workers' organization, indicated that the movement is preparing to shift its protest strategy to increase pressure on policymakers. Potential demonstration sites include the Perambur Assembly constituency office, Panaiyur, and the residence of the Corporation Commissioner, according to the union leader.

The escalation signals the workers' determination to push their grievances forward after what appears to be insufficient response from government authorities. By targeting multiple high-visibility locations, the union aims to draw greater attention to their concerns and force engagement from the state government.
