KUCHING — Air quality conditions showed mixed progress across Sarawak on Monday, with Lubok Antu exiting the very unhealthy category by noon while Kanowit remained in hazardous territory.
Lubok Antu's Air Pollutant Index (API) dipped into the unhealthy range during the morning, offering relief to residents after days of poor air quality in the district. The improvement came as weather conditions began to ease some of the regional haze affecting the state.
However, Kanowit continued to struggle with very unhealthy air readings at midday, posing ongoing health concerns for the area's population. Officials have advised residents in affected zones to limit outdoor activities and take necessary precautions.
The fluctuating conditions underscore the unpredictable nature of transboundary haze affecting the region. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as meteorological patterns may bring further changes to air quality levels across Sarawak in coming days.
