Sarawak air quality shows signs of improvement amid lingering pollution
While air quality conditions in Sarawak have begun to improve, several areas across the state continue to record unhealthy readings. Multiple locations including Sibu, Sarikei, and Mukah are still experiencing concerning pollution levels.

Air quality across Sarawak is gradually improving, though several regions continue to grapple with unhealthy pollution levels, according to latest readings of the Air Pollution Index (API).
Five areas in the state have recorded API readings at the "very unhealthy" level. Sibu registered the highest reading at 292, followed by Sarikei at 283. Other areas affected include Mukah with 241, Bintulu with 226, and Sri Aman with 214.
The varying pollution levels across different districts suggest that air quality conditions remain unstable in parts of Sarawak, with some zones experiencing more severe contamination than others. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor API updates closely and take appropriate health precautions.
The gradual improvement in overall air quality provides some relief for the state, though continued monitoring and mitigation efforts remain essential to address persistent pollution hotspots and protect public health.
