KUCHING — Schools and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education in Sarawak will open as scheduled tomorrow, with precautionary measures in place to protect students from air pollution exposure.

The state education department has mandated that all outdoor activities, including sports and physical education classes, will be halted immediately if the Air Pollution Index reaches or surpasses 100. Students and staff will remain indoors during such conditions, with activities either relocated to indoor facilities or rescheduled accordingly.

The decision reflects ongoing concerns over air quality in the region, which has been subject to seasonal variations and transboundary haze. Schools have been directed to monitor Air Quality Index readings throughout the day and adjust their schedules in real-time to comply with health guidelines.

Educational authorities have advised parents and guardians that normal classroom operations will continue regardless of air quality conditions, with indoor teaching and learning activities proceeding as planned. However, school management will communicate any schedule adjustments to parents promptly.
