Sarawak struggles with haze as 11 areas report poor air quality
Eleven localities across Sarawak are experiencing poor air quality readings, while most of the country maintains moderate to good levels. Three other areas outside the state also recorded unhealthy readings.

Air quality in Sarawak remained a concern Tuesday, with eleven areas registering poor Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as haze persisted across the state. The affected areas signalled potential health risks for residents, particularly for vulnerable populations including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. Beyond Sarawak's borders, three additional hotspots were identified, with Pasir Gudang in Johor, Johan Setia in Selangor, and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah also posting poor air quality levels. The situation contrasted sharply with the remainder of the country, where API readings remained within moderate or good ranges, indicating adequate air quality for the general population. Authorities have not yet announced specific measures to address the haze in the affected areas, though residents in poor air quality zones are typically advised to limit outdoor activities and use protective masks when venturing outside.
