The town of Sarrat has inaugurated upgraded diagnostic services at its primary care facility, according to an announcement from the Department of Health Ilocos Region on Saturday. The expansion includes a new Clinical Laboratory, X-Ray, and Ultrasound Services unit that will serve residents of Sarrat and nearby municipalities.
Previously, residents requiring these diagnostic services had to travel to larger medical facilities outside their locality. The new facilities aim to reduce travel burdens and enable faster diagnosis and treatment of common health conditions within the community.
The Department of Health initiative aligns with the government's broader effort to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in provincial areas. By decentralizing diagnostic services, authorities hope to improve patient outcomes and reduce the overall cost of healthcare access for residents in Ilocos Norte.
The upgraded facility represents an investment in preventive and diagnostic healthcare at the primary level, potentially alleviating pressure on larger tertiary hospitals while bringing essential medical services closer to local communities.
