Multiple Indian carriers have announced flight cancellations to Saudi Arabia following coordinated attacks on the kingdom's airport infrastructure. Operations to four major cities—Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Medina—remain suspended, with cancellations announced through at least October 17, according to a statement from India's Ministry of External Affairs.
The MEA said it is actively tracking the situation and maintaining regular contact with Indian missions in Saudi Arabia. Officials emphasized that the primary focus remains on ensuring the safety and welfare of the substantial Indian expatriate community in the Gulf nation, which numbers in the millions and represents a significant source of remittances to India.
The disruptions will impact thousands of Indian passengers, including business travelers, migrant workers and those traveling for pilgrimage to Islamic holy sites. Airlines have been advising passengers of the suspension and offering rebooking options, though uncertainty remains over when normal flight operations will resume.
India's diplomatic presence in Saudi Arabia continues to monitor developments in coordination with local authorities and other countries with significant national populations affected by the airport closures. The MEA stated it would provide updates as the situation evolves.
