A Saudi-led military coalition said it carried out strikes against Houthi missile facilities in Yemen, destroying ballistic missile launchers along with storage depots and tunnel networks used by the rebel group.
The coalition has conducted regular air operations against the Houthis since a civil war erupted in Yemen in 2014. The rebels, backed by Iran, have repeatedly launched attacks on coalition member states and shipping in the Red Sea region.
The strikes on missile infrastructure represent efforts to degrade the Houthis' military capabilities and prevent attacks on coalition forces and civilian infrastructure. The group has developed increasingly sophisticated drone and missile capabilities over the course of the conflict.
Yemen's humanitarian situation has deteriorated significantly during the prolonged fighting, with millions facing food insecurity and limited access to basic services. International efforts to broker a ceasefire have had limited success, with periodic agreements collapsing amid renewed tensions.
