Airstrikes struck multiple locations across Sanaa as the Saudi-led coalition pressed its military campaign against Houthi forces controlling Yemen's capital. According to residents and Houthi media outlets, explosions were heard across the city following strikes on the al-Suhaba fuel facility located west of Sanaa.
Prior to the strikes, a coalition spokesman issued an unusual public warning to civilians, urging them to evacuate the area surrounding the Yemeni Oil Company site, which sits on elevated terrain overlooking the capital. The statement preceded attacks on oil storage facilities in the vicinity, part of an apparent strategy targeting the rebel group's energy infrastructure.
Houthi officials said they had anticipated the military action, with the oil company claiming its storage facilities had been emptied beforehand. Officials asserted that any Saudi strikes on their reserves would have no impact on oil supplies for Sanaa residents. Nevertheless, the announcement prompted concern among the civilian population, with reports of long queues forming at petrol stations across the city as residents moved to secure fuel supplies.
The escalation underscores the intensifying nature of the conflict as the Saudi-led coalition continues its military operations against the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, adding to the wider regional tensions unfolding across the Middle East.
