The Saudi Pro League announced postponements of matches involving top-tier clubs Al Hilal, Al Riyadh, Al Ittihad and Al Shabab following security concerns related to Houthi attacks in the kingdom. The affected fixtures have been rescheduled for December 19, according to league officials.
In a separate adjustment, the clash between Al Nassr and Al Ahli, which features Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, has been repositioned to March 6, 2027. The rescheduling represents a significant delay for one of the Saudi Pro League's most anticipated encounters.
The postponements underscore ongoing security challenges in the region, with Yemen's Houthi movement having conducted several drone and missile operations targeting Saudi Arabia in recent months. The league's decision prioritises the safety of players, officials and spectators while maintaining the integrity of the sporting calendar.
The Saudi Pro League has not indicated whether additional matches may face similar scheduling adjustments pending security assessments in the coming weeks.
