State Bank of India has advised customers to utilise automated teller machines and round-the-clock online banking services to conduct transactions during an impending strike in the banking sector.
The advisory comes as bank unions prepare for industrial action that could disrupt normal operations across branches nationwide. SBI said it remains committed to maintaining critical banking functions throughout the strike period, though acknowledged that branch-level activities may face disruptions.
The bank has explicitly recommended that customers shift their routine transactions to digital platforms and ATM networks, which are expected to remain operational. Online banking services, including fund transfers, bill payments, and account inquiries, are available 24/7 and present an uninterrupted alternative to in-branch services.
SBI's guidance reflects efforts by the banking sector to mitigate customer inconvenience during industrial action. However, customers requiring specific services typically handled at branch counters are advised to plan accordingly, as staff availability may be limited during the strike period.
Customers are urged to complete urgent banking requirements in advance and rely on digital infrastructure during the strike window.
