State Bank of India is on track to potentially double its total business to around ₹200 lakh crore by 2030, when the banking behemoth marks 75 years since its establishment, Chairman C S Setty said. Based on the bank's current growth rate, SBI's total business—calculated as the combined value of loans, advances, and deposits—could reach between ₹170-180 lakh crore and potentially climb as high as ₹200 lakh crore within the next four years, Setty indicated.
The bank, which came into existence on July 1, 1955 following an Act of Parliament that facilitated the transfer of the Imperial Bank of India's undertaking, has already demonstrated impressive expansion. SBI crossed the ₹100 lakh crore milestone in total business during the second quarter of the previous financial year, a figure that grew to ₹110.01 lakh crore by June 2026.
While the bank has not formally set a specific target for its 75th anniversary year, the trajectory of growth suggests such expansion is achievable without requiring extraordinary acceleration. The projections underscore SBI's dominant position in India's banking sector and reflect its capacity to support the nation's expanding financial needs as economic growth continues.
