Showers and thundershowers are anticipated to develop in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, according to the Department of Meteorology's latest weather advisory.
The forecast indicates that fairly heavy rainfall above 75 millimetres is likely to occur in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Central provinces. The Trincomalee and Mullaitivu districts in the Eastern Province are also expected to experience significant precipitation during the same period.
Coastal areas across the island may also receive showers as the weather system moves across the region. The meteorological department has advised residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against potential flooding and water-related hazards.
Commuters and the general public are urged to monitor weather updates throughout the day and exercise caution while travelling, particularly in areas prone to flooding.
