Residents across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern, and North-western provinces should prepare for showers or thundershowers throughout the day, according to the latest weather forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology. The Anuradhapura and Galle districts are also expected to experience similar precipitation.
The unsettled weather conditions are associated with a low-pressure area that has been positioned near Sri Lanka. Meteorological officials indicate that this system is gradually moving westward, tracking away from the island's landmass.
Early morning travelers in the Central and Uva provinces should exercise caution due to misty conditions expected to prevail during dawn hours. Visibility may be reduced in affected areas during this period.
The forecast was issued at 5:30 a.m. on October 23, 2026. Residents are advised to keep abreast of further updates from the Department of Meteorology for any changes to weather conditions throughout the day.
