Scattered showers forecast across western and central Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology has warned of scattered showers expected across multiple provinces today, with heavy rainfall anticipated in several southern districts. Residents in western and central regions should prepare for wet weather conditions.

Scattered showers forecast across western and central Sri Lanka

Showers are expected to develop across the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces today, along with the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya, according to forecasts issued by the Department of Meteorology.

The most significant rainfall is anticipated in the southwestern coastal regions, where Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts may experience fairly heavy falls exceeding 50 millimetres at isolated locations. Ratnapura district in Sabaragamuwa province is similarly expected to receive substantial precipitation.

The North-western province will experience several spells of showers throughout the day, with conditions remaining unsettled in that region.

Members of the public are advised to exercise caution in flood-prone areas and to monitor weather updates from the Department of Meteorology for any further warnings or developments in the forecast.
