A troubling incident of a stray dog attacking a school van driver unfolded in Surat's Dindoli locality on the morning of September 24, with security camera footage documenting the assault. The attack occurred at approximately 8:26 a.m. as the driver was preparing to assist a child boarding the vehicle.
According to CCTV records, the dog suddenly lunged at the driver, knocking him to the ground before latching onto his leg and continuing its assault. The driver found himself unable to defend against the aggressive animal as it persisted in attacking him during the encounter.
A woman who was present at the scene—reportedly the parent of the child being dropped at school—witnessed the entire episode unfold. The incident left her visibly distressed and alarmed by the violent nature of the attack.
The release of the CCTV footage has intensified concerns among residents and school authorities regarding the menace of stray dogs in residential and commercial zones across the city.
