Schools Cricket Body Grants Flexible Match Scheduling Amid Weather Delays
The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association has allowed participating institutions to select their own match dates for Under 19 knockout competitions, following persistent rainfall that has disrupted tournament progress since the quarter-final stage.

The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) has introduced scheduling flexibility for schools competing in the knockout rounds of its Under 19limited-overs tournaments, responding to weather-related disruptions that have stalled competition advancement.
The decision applies to both the Under 19 Division I Tier 'A' and Division II Tier 'A' tournaments, which have been unable to progress beyond the quarter-final stage due to sustained wet weather conditions. By permitting schools to nominate match dates that align with their operational requirements, the SLSCA aims to facilitate tournament completion while accommodating institutional constraints.
The measure represents a practical adjustment to the original competition calendar, allowing schools greater autonomy in scheduling their knockout fixtures while maintaining the integrity of the tournament structure. This approach balances the need for timely competition conclusion against the unpredictable nature of seasonal weather patterns that commonly affect cricket scheduling in the region.
The SLSCA's decision underscores the challenges posed by monsoon conditions to cricket administration during this period of the academic calendar. The flexible scheduling framework is expected to enable schools to coordinate fixtures around their own institutional calendars while working toward completing both divisional competitions.
