Schools nationwide to resume classes, with Johor, parts of KL and Selangor excepted
Educational institutions across Peninsular Malaysia will reopen tomorrow following air quality improvements, though authorities have ordered closures in Johor and selected areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor due to persistent haze concerns.

Most schools in Peninsular Malaysia will resume normal operations tomorrow after air quality readings showed significant improvement across the region. However, educational facilities in Johor state and several locations within Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will remain closed as a precautionary measure.
As of 4pm today, only 14 areas throughout Peninsular Malaysia recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, with Johor accounting for the majority of these problem zones. The concentration of elevated readings in the southern state prompted authorities to maintain school closures there, prioritising student health and safety.
The decision to allow most schools to reopen reflects broader improvements in air quality across the peninsula, though officials have cautioned that monitoring will continue. Parents and educators in affected areas have been advised to monitor official announcements for updates regarding reopening dates.
This latest development follows earlier closures prompted by regional haze conditions that affected multiple states. Authorities continue to coordinate with neighbouring regions to address air quality issues affecting the broader South-East Asian region.
