KUALA LUMPUR — Schools across four states will remain open on Wednesday despite ongoing haze affecting the region, the Ministry of Education confirmed. All educational institutions under the ministry's jurisdiction in Selangor, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang have been instructed to proceed with regular classes and activities.
The decision comes as air quality monitoring continues across the affected areas. The ministry has indicated that it will reassess conditions and adjust operations if air pollution levels reach critical thresholds that pose health risks to students and staff.
Educational authorities have advised schools to implement precautionary measures, including limiting outdoor activities where necessary. Parents and guardians have been encouraged to monitor air quality updates and take appropriate health precautions for their children.
Haze episodes, typically attributed to transboundary pollution, have become a recurring issue in the region during certain seasons. Authorities maintain contingency plans to shift to alternative learning arrangements, including online classes, should air quality deteriorate significantly in coming days.
