The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings of severe weather conditions along India's eastern coastline, prompting multiple state governments to announce the closure of schools and colleges as a precautionary measure. Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have implemented varying schedules of educational institution shutdowns in anticipation of heavy rainfall and high-velocity winds associated with the approaching cyclone system.
State disaster management authorities have activated emergency protocols to strengthen preparedness across vulnerable districts. The closures reflect coordinated efforts between educational departments and meteorological agencies to prioritize public safety during the cyclone's passage through the region.
Odisha authorities have directed schools and colleges to remain closed in districts identified as high-risk zones, while Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have issued staggered closure announcements based on projected cyclone trajectory. Officials have advised residents in coastal and low-lying areas to remain vigilant and adhere to evacuation orders if issued by district administration.
The IMD continues to monitor cyclone movement and is expected to provide updated forecasts in the coming hours. State governments have positioned emergency response teams, relief materials and medical personnel in strategic locations across affected regions.
