KUALA LUMPUR — Schools under the Ministry of Education in four central states will resume normal operations tomorrow, marking an end to closures prompted by deteriorating air quality from transboundary haze.

Educational facilities in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Pahang had been shuttered as a precautionary measure to protect students and staff from prolonged exposure to hazardous particulate matter. The ministry made the decision to reopen based on current air quality assessments and forecasts.

The temporary school closures reflected escalating concerns over the haze phenomenon, which periodically affects the region during certain seasons. Authorities had implemented the precautionary measures in line with established protocols for protecting public health, particularly among vulnerable populations such as schoolchildren.

Parents and educators in affected states are advised to monitor official ministry communications for any further updates. Students are expected to resume their regular academic schedules with immediate effect.
