The 18th Asia-Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP) is positioning science and industry cooperation as central to the region's environmental transition. The conference aims to bridge the gap between sustainability aspirations and real-world implementation by fostering partnerships among researchers, policymakers, businesses and international organizations.

Strengthening ties between scientific institutions and industry players is essential to developing scalable green solutions across the region, conference organizers said. By combining research expertise with commercial capability, stakeholders can create practical frameworks that move beyond policy statements to deliver measurable environmental benefits.

The regional initiative comes as several Southeast Asian economies are ramping up their green transition efforts. Vietnam has recently expanded renewable energy incentives, including raising the rooftop solar resale cap to 50 percent, while attracting Japanese foreign direct investment focused on sustainable manufacturing practices.

Participants are expected to identify priority areas where science-industry collaboration can accelerate the adoption of environmentally responsible production and consumption models throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
