Scientists have successfully engineered a benign probiotic bacterium to serve as a delivery vehicle for immunotherapy, transporting tumour-fighting agents directly into pancreatic cancer cells. The approach represents a novel strategy in cancer treatment, leveraging naturally occurring microorganisms to enhance the body's immune response against malignant growths.

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging malignancies to treat, with poor survival rates due to its aggressive nature and late-stage diagnosis in many cases. Traditional treatment methods often struggle to penetrate the dense tissue surrounding pancreatic tumours, limiting their effectiveness.
