Scoot bolsters China expansion with Guiyang service launch

Singapore-based low-cost carrier Scoot has announced the addition of Guiyang to its growing network of mainland Chinese destinations, marking another step in the airline's regional expansion strategy.

The new service to Guiyang, capital of southwestern Yunnan province, will augment Scoot's presence across China's key markets. The expansion brings the airline's total weekly flight capacity to 81 services covering 16 mainland cities, reflecting increased demand for budget air travel in the region.

The move comes as Scoot continues to capitalise on market opportunities in China, where rising middle-class travel and growing connectivity between major urban centres have bolstered demand for affordable flight options. Guiyang's inclusion in the network positions the carrier to tap into passenger flows in China's western regions.

Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has established itself as a competitive player in the region's budget carrier segment. The airline's expansion into secondary and tertiary Chinese cities complements its broader strategy of offering value-driven connectivity across Asia.
