Kanav Jain has been recognised as the UK's Young Engineer of the Year for his groundbreaking work on AeroAid, an autonomous aircraft system engineered to address critical healthcare gaps in remote regions. The innovation combines helicopter and airplane capabilities into a single versatile platform, enabling medical deliveries to areas where traditional transport infrastructure remains limited or non-existent.
The AeroAid system operates as a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) quadplane, a design that provides distinct advantages over conventional delivery methods. Its hybrid architecture allows the aircraft to hover like a helicopter while maintaining the efficiency and range of fixed-wing aircraft, making it particularly suited for challenging terrain and isolated communities.
