SCR deploys 700 special trains for festive season travel surge

The South Central Railway (SCR) is operating more than 700 special trains to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season spanning Dasara, Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations.

Beyond augmenting train services, SCR is strengthening passenger facilitation measures at congested stations. The division has increased the number of ticket counters and installed additional Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) to expedite booking processes and reduce queues during peak travel periods.

Recognising the specific needs of women travellers, SCR has deployed additional female staff at major stations to provide assistance and guidance. This initiative aims to enhance passenger safety and comfort, particularly for women and children navigating busy terminals during the festive rush.

The multi-pronged approach reflects SCR's efforts to balance capacity management with passenger experience during one of the busiest travel periods in the Indian railway calendar. Commuters are advised to plan journeys in advance and book tickets early to avoid last-minute hassles.
