South Central Railway (SCR) has put forward a proposal for constructing coaching depots at two strategic locations—Jukal and Dabilpur—with a combined estimated outlay of ₹2,867 crore. The proposed facilities are designed to significantly expand SCR's infrastructure for coach maintenance and storage operations.
The coaching depots represent a key component of SCR's modernization and capacity expansion strategy. These facilities will enable the railway zone to better manage its rolling stock, conduct routine servicing and repairs, and accommodate growing passenger traffic demands across the region.
The project locations were selected based on operational requirements and accessibility considerations within SCR's jurisdiction. The depots are expected to enhance service reliability and reduce turnaround times for coaches, contributing to improved train operations and passenger services.
SCR, which oversees railway operations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and parts of neighboring states, regularly undertakes infrastructure development initiatives to meet evolving transportation needs. The proposed coaching depots align with broader railway modernization efforts being pursued across Indian Railways.
