Scuffles erupt as NSUI protests poll chief's conduct in Delhi

Student activists affiliated with the NSUI held a protest demonstration at Connaught Place in central Delhi on Tuesday, calling for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation and raising allegations of vote theft during recent elections. The gathering descended into physical confrontation when pushing and shoving erupted between female protesters and police officers deployed at the venue. According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation involved forceful contact between the parties amid heated exchanges. NSUI President Vinod Jakhar said the organization had sought permission to stage a sit-in at Jantar Mantar but was denied access to the designated protest site. Jakhar announced that the student body would continue its agitation at Connaught Place and maintain demonstrations over the next two days to press its demands regarding the election commissioner's conduct and allegations of electoral irregularities. The NSUI has not specified what evidence it possesses regarding the vote theft allegations.
