A search and rescue operation is underway in Lucknow after two people went missing following an apparent jump into the Gomti River on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at the Ghaila bridge in the Madiyaon locality when Gautam Gupta, 45, a dhaba operator, and Chunmun Gupta, 23, his relative, entered the river. Eyewitnesses reported that the young man jumped first, followed by the woman moments later. The swift current of the river swept both individuals away, and they have not been located since. State Disaster Response Force personnel, professional divers, and local police have been mobilized to search for the missing couple. The operation is focusing on downstream areas of the river where the current may have carried them. Authorities have not yet disclosed details about the circumstances leading to the incident or the nature of their relationship.
