The Seattle Kraken and Nashville Predators completed a one-for-one player exchange on Tuesday, with the Kraken sending centre Shane Wright to Nashville in return for Matthew Wood.
Wright, selected fourth overall by Seattle in the 2022 NHL Draft, departs after four seasons with the franchise. The trade came after the player formally requested a move away from the organization, signalling the conclusion of his tenure with the Pacific Northwest club.
The 23-year-old centre had been a key prospect in the Kraken's development plans since their inaugural season. His departure marks a significant roster adjustment for Seattle as the team continues to shape its competitive core.
Wood, who joins the Kraken in the exchange, brings additional depth to Seattle's centre position. The transaction represents an opportunity for both teams to address respective roster needs as the season progresses.
The deal underscores the ongoing roster movement across the NHL as franchises seek to optimize their lineups and player configurations.
