Heavy rain has resulted in ceiling leaks at Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang, prompting an immediate response from the state's health authorities. Penang Health Director Zulhizzam Abdullah confirmed the incident on Wednesday, noting that the structural damage was confined to specific areas of the facility.
Despite the water intrusion, Zulhizzam assured the public that patient care operations were not disrupted and no individuals received medical treatment as a result of the leaks. The director's statement underscored the hospital's ability to contain and manage the situation effectively.
The incident highlights ongoing infrastructure challenges faced by public healthcare facilities in the state during monsoon and heavy rainfall periods. Authorities did not immediately disclose whether remedial or preventive measures would be undertaken to address the building's vulnerability to water damage.
Seberang Jaya Hospital, a key medical facility serving the Butterworth area and surrounding communities, continues normal operations following the incident.
