Sebi bans Debock Industries promoter for seven years over fraud

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has barred the promoter of Debock Industries from the securities market for seven years and directed the company to return funds allegedly misappropriated during a rights offering in 2023.
The regulator has ordered Debock Industries to disgorge ₹59.30 crore along with applicable interest, and to recover and remit ₹49 crore that was purportedly diverted from the rights issue proceeds. The action comes after Sebi's investigation revealed irregularities in the handling of funds raised through the capital offering.
The enforcement action underscores the watchdog's commitment to protecting investor interests and maintaining market integrity. Rights issues, which allow existing shareholders to purchase additional shares at a discount, are a common fundraising mechanism in India's equity markets.
