SEC official lacks knowledge of firms in Duterte's financial disclosures

MANILA – A high-ranking Securities and Exchange Commission official told an impeachment inquiry on Monday that he cannot verify details about companies named in Vice President Sara Duterte's financial disclosures. Gerardo Del Rosario, director of the SEC's Company Registration and Monitoring Department, said his agency lacks access to the Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth, or SALNs, filed by government officials. The testimony came during the 27th day of hearings in the impeachment case against the Vice President. Del Rosario explained that the SEC's mandate does not extend to reviewing or cross-referencing information contained in SALNs submitted by public officials. His statement underscores the limited oversight mechanisms available for verifying the accuracy of financial declarations made by government workers. The testimony is part of broader questioning into the Vice President's disclosed assets and business interests.
