Second contingent of Dasara elephants reaches Mysuru Palace

A second batch of elephants reached Mysuru Palace on Wednesday as preparations intensified for the state's premier Dasara festival. The animals, brought from various locations across Karnataka, will join those already stationed at the palace for the ceremonial festivities scheduled over the coming weeks.

The arrival of the elephants marks a crucial phase in the festival's preparation, with palace authorities ensuring adequate facilities and care for the majestic creatures. Each animal undergoes health checks and acclimatization before being incorporated into the grand procession that forms the centrepiece of Mysuru Dasara celebrations.

The Dasara elephant procession, a tradition spanning centuries, features decorated elephants parading through the city's streets in a spectacular display of pageantry. The festival, celebrated annually in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, attracts thousands of visitors and remains one of India's most significant cultural events.

Palace officials have made comprehensive arrangements to house and feed the elephants during their stay. The animals will participate in various ceremonial events before being transported back to their respective locations following the conclusion of the festival.
