CALASIAO, Pangasinan — Aguilar municipality has implemented a temporary ban on the entry and exit of live swine, pork, and pork by-products within its jurisdiction as part of intensified efforts to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever in the region.
The restriction was formalized through Executive Order 76-2026, which was issued on Monday. Aguilar joins another Pangasinan municipality in adopting similar measures to protect local livestock from the highly contagious viral disease that has devastated pig farming operations across the Philippines.
The ban applies to all movement of live animals and pork products crossing municipal boundaries, effectively isolating the town's swine industry from external sources of infection. Local agricultural officials have emphasized the critical importance of such containment measures in preventing further spread of ASF among remaining hog populations.
The disease has prompted multiple local government units across the country to implement stricter biosecurity protocols. Officials in Pangasinan have urged livestock farmers and traders to comply fully with the restrictions to safeguard the province's pork supply chain and rural livelihoods.
