Security forces intensify manhunt in Kashmir's Budgam forest

Security forces continued extensive search operations in the forested areas of Budgam district on Thursday as part of an ongoing counterterrorism drive in the region. The operation, which began Wednesday, has expanded across multiple locations as authorities pursue suspected militants reportedly active in the area.

Due to the proximity of the search zone to Doodhpathri, a major tourist attraction in central Kashmir, district officials have issued a temporary advisory restricting visitors to the location. The measure has been implemented as a precautionary step to ensure public safety during the ongoing security operations.

"Tourists are requested to avoid visiting Doodhpathri until further orders," officials said in a statement, adding that the restriction would remain in effect until the operation concludes and the area is fully secured.

The Budgam district, located in Kashmir's central zone, has seen intermittent militancy-related incidents over recent years. Security agencies have intensified operations in the region following intelligence inputs regarding militant movements, officials confirmed.

The search operation reflects the ongoing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces regularly conduct counterinsurgency operations. Local authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities.
