Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham has indicated it is plausible for Selangor party representatives to back a menteri besar candidate, drawing parallels with recent developments in Pahang where two assemblymen threw their weight behind the state government.
Hilman told reporters that the party's approach hinges on what serves the interests of their constituents and the rakyat. "It is not impossible," he said when asked whether Selangor Bersatu members might similarly support a MB candidate.
His comments come after two Pahang assemblymen from Bersatu announced backing for the state's menteri besar, signalling potential shifts in political allegiances within the party's state chapters. The move reflects broader realignments across Malaysia's political landscape as parties reassess coalition partnerships and state-level governance arrangements.
Hilman stressed that any decision by Selangor representatives would be guided by pragmatic considerations centred on delivering for their constituencies rather than rigid party positioning. This signals Bersatu's continued flexibility in managing relationships across different state governments, where party members have shown willingness to work across coalition lines when local circumstances warrant it.
