SHAH ALAM — The Selangor Immigration Department has concluded a major enforcement operation that resulted in the repatriation of 83,787 foreign nationals and the collection of RM42.6 million in penalties and related fees.
The department's intensive crackdown, spanning 17 months, targeted undocumented migrants and immigration violators across the state. The scale of the operation underscores authorities' commitment to strengthening border control and immigration compliance in Malaysia's most economically developed state.
The repatriation programme saw irregular migrants returned to their countries of origin through coordinated processes involving diplomatic channels and regional partners. The substantial revenue generated through administrative fines reflects both the volume of violations detected and the enforcement intensity applied during the period.
Selangor, which accounts for a significant portion of Malaysia's migrant worker population, has been a focal point for immigration enforcement efforts. The operation supports broader national objectives to regularise the foreign workforce and deter illegal migration through consistent enforcement mechanisms.
