Selangor's Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has invited members of the public to submit evidence regarding alleged pig farming operations along Sungai Bukit Lagong, amid ongoing concerns about livestock activities in the waterway.
Amirudin said that aerial surveys conducted using drone technology along the entire stretch of the river had only identified two cattle farms to date. He indicated that the state government required substantive documentation to investigate further claims of pig rearing facilities in the vicinity.
The appeal comes as the state seeks to address public concerns over potential environmental and agricultural issues related to livestock farming near the water source. Residents and community groups have been encouraged to provide photographs, coordinates, or other verifiable information to support their reports.
The Menteri Besar's statement underscores the challenge authorities face in monitoring agricultural activities across the state's river systems, particularly when initial surveys have not corroborated the extent of reported farming operations. The state government has indicated its commitment to investigating substantiated complaints and taking appropriate action where necessary.
