SHAH ALAM — State authorities in Selangor are preparing a coordinated distribution programme to supply protective face masks to residents in zones experiencing the worst air quality during the current haze episode.
The Selangor Disaster Management Committee confirmed the initiative aims to prioritize delivery to vulnerable demographic groups, including senior citizens, young children, and individuals with existing respiratory conditions. Distribution points will be established in areas recording the highest concentrations of air pollutants.
State officials indicated that the mask distribution forms part of broader contingency measures being readied as air quality deteriorates across the region. The committee has advised residents in affected areas to monitor air quality indices and take appropriate precautions to protect their health.
The move comes amid rising regional haze concerns that have prompted health warnings and advisories across Malaysia and neighbouring countries.
