The Seletar Sunday cycling lane, a fixture in Singapore's recreational cycling landscape, is poised for significant expansion as authorities move forward with infrastructure enhancement plans. The extension project will increase the dedicated cycling route from its current 4.6 kilometres to a total of 11.2 kilometres upon completion.
The expansion represents a substantial 143 per cent increase in the lane's length, reflecting growing demand for safe, dedicated cycling infrastructure in the northern part of the island. The enhanced facility is expected to cater to increased participation in weekend cycling activities and provide commuters with an extended recreational route.
Construction works are scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2027, according to project timelines. The expansion forms part of broader efforts by Singapore's transport authorities to promote cycling as a sustainable mobility option and enhance recreational amenities across different neighbourhoods.
The Seletar corridor has emerged as a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts, with the Sunday lane becoming a regular feature for residents seeking car-free recreational routes. The expanded facility is anticipated to further establish the area as a key cycling destination while supporting the nation's vision for a more active and connected community.
