Sen. Legarda to extend medical leave through mid-September

MANILA — Senator Loren Legarda will continue her medical leave through mid-September, with scheduled absences from September 7 to 9 and again from September 14 to 16, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug confirmed on Monday.

Bantug's announcement marks the fifth consecutive medical leave period for the veteran legislator, who has cited a serious illness as the reason for her ongoing absence from Senate duties.

The senator's repeated medical absences have drawn attention in recent weeks as the chamber continues its legislative agenda. Details regarding the nature of Legarda's condition have not been disclosed publicly.

Legarda, a four-time senator and former vice presidential candidate, previously announced her initial medical leave earlier this month before extending the duration through the middle of the month.
