The Senate impeachment court clarified Wednesday that senator-judges may participate in proceedings outside the main session hall provided they remain within Senate premises. The clarification came after a senator-judge shared photos of colleagues observing the trial from another location.

Senate impeachment court spokesperson Atty. Reginald Tongol confirmed Wednesday that senator-judges are permitted to monitor impeachment trial proceedings from locations other than the main session hall, as long as they stay within the Senate building.
The clarification addresses questions raised after Senator Robin Padilla posted photographs showing himself alongside fellow senator-judges Mark Villar and Christopher "Bong" Go observing the trial from outside the primary hearing chamber.
Tongol's statement indicates that the Senate has established procedures allowing flexibility in how impeachment court participants engage with proceedings while maintaining the integrity of the trial process. The rules permit monitoring of testimony and evidence presentation from alternate locations on Senate premises.
The impeachment trial continues with senator-judges required to fulfill their judicial duties in the proceedings against the respondent. The clarification provides guidance on acceptable conduct for the 24 senator-judges presiding over the case, ensuring compliance with trial protocols and regulations.
