MANILA — The Senate approved a procedural change on Wednesday to streamline budget deliberations by allowing the Committee on Finance and its subcommittees to conduct hearings while plenary sessions are ongoing.
Under the new arrangement, which takes effect immediately, concurrent sessions will be held every Monday through Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m. This dual-track approach is designed to maximize legislative time and expedite action on the national budget without compromising thorough committee review.
The move reflects Senate efforts to manage its workload more efficiently during the critical budget period. By permitting committee work to proceed alongside floor debates, lawmakers aim to reduce the timeline for budget passage while maintaining adequate scrutiny of spending proposals.
