Senate Finance Committee Pledges Parliamentary Courtesy to Vice President's Office

MANILA — The Senate finance committee has committed to observing parliamentary courtesy toward the Office of the Vice President during upcoming budget hearings for the 2027 fiscal year, according to committee chair Senator Juan Edson Ejercito.

Ejercito's assurance comes ahead of scheduled budget defense hearings, with the committee prepared to receive the OVP's proposed allocation whether Vice President Duterte chooses to attend in person or designates a representative to present the office's budget priorities.

The commitment reflects longstanding legislative practice, with Ejercito noting that the granting of parliamentary courtesy has been a consistent tradition in the Senate's budget deliberation process across administrations and political circumstances.

The 2027 budget hearings are expected to proceed as scheduled, with the finance committee maintaining its role as arbiter of fiscal proposals while adhering to established protocols governing executive-legislative relations during the annual appropriations process.
