MANILA — The Senate of the Philippines formally inaugurated Senate TV on Tuesday in partnership with the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, establishing a dedicated channel to broadcast the upper chamber's sessions and proceedings.
Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian highlighted the channel's significance during the launch ceremony, noting that Senate TV will enable Filipinos to access comprehensive coverage of Senate affairs and legislative activities. The initiative addresses growing demand for transparency in government operations and direct public engagement with legislative processes.
The channel represents an effort to modernize how the Senate communicates with constituents, moving beyond traditional media constraints. By providing dedicated airtime for Senate proceedings, the new platform allows citizens to observe debates, committee hearings, and votes in real time.
Senate TV joins broader initiatives by the legislature to enhance transparency and public participation in the legislative process. The channel's establishment reflects evolving expectations for government institutions to maintain direct communication channels with the public.
