MANILA — Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian emphasized the importance of a peaceful arrest process for Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa, urging law enforcement to exercise restraint and professionalism during the operation.
In remarks made during a radio interview with dzBB on Sunday, Gatchalian stressed that any arrest procedures must be conducted safely and without recourse to violence.
'To our law enforcers, they must conduct a safe arrest of Senator Bato. No violence should happen,' Gatchalian stated, underscoring the need for adherence to proper arrest protocols.
The Senate President's statement reflects concerns about the manner in which high-profile arrests are executed, particularly involving sitting members of the upper chamber. His appeal comes as the Philippines continues to grapple with questions about law enforcement conduct and the protection of individual rights during arrest operations.
