MANILA — Senator Loren Legarda will remain on medical leave through October 9, the Philippine Senate announced Monday. Senate Secretary Renato Bantug confirmed that Legarda filed new medical leave requests covering September 21-23, September 28 to October 2, and October 5-9.
The additional leave filings represent the sixth consecutive period of medical absence for the senator. Bantug disclosed the information in a statement sent to news organizations, though specific details regarding the nature of Legarda's medical condition were not provided.
The extended absence means Legarda will miss several weeks of legislative sessions during a critical period of the congressional calendar. The Senate continues regular sessions during the periods covered by her medical leave.
