MANILA – Sen. Erwin Tulfo has introduced legislation aimed at stabilizing the Philippines' international tourism brand through long-term messaging consistency. Senate Bill No. 2511, formally titled the Official Philippine Tourism Campaign Slogan bill, was filed this week and proposes a mandatory 15-year minimum period for any adopted tourism slogan.

The measure addresses concerns about frequent changes in the country's promotional messaging, which tourism stakeholders argue undermines brand recognition and wastes resources on recurring campaign overhauls. Tulfo's proposal seeks to ensure the Department of Tourism maintains strategic continuity in positioning the nation as a travel destination.

Under the proposed framework, once the DOT adopts an official tourism slogan, it would remain in use for no less than 15 years, allowing the government to build sustained marketing momentum and maximize return on investment in promotional activities. The bill argues that extended campaign cycles strengthen brand identity in international markets and provide clearer messaging to potential visitors.

The measure reflects broader discussions within the Senate about optimizing government spending on tourism promotion and aligning marketing efforts with long-term national development goals. The bill now enters the legislative process for committee review and debate before potential passage.
