Senco Gold Ltd announced on Sunday that it has signed definitive agreements to acquire a controlling stake in August Jewellery Pvt Ltd, the company behind the popular Melorra brand, for ₹68 crore. The acquisition will be structured through multiple tranches of investment, with completion targeted for February 2027, contingent upon the satisfaction of specified regulatory and operational conditions, according to a regulatory filing.
Following the Senco Gold acquisition alongside an investment by its promoter group entity, the combined stake in August Jewellery will reach 79 per cent, resulting in August Jewellery becoming a subsidiary of Senco Gold. The investment will be channelled through fresh equity issuance, with proceeds allocated towards the company's growth initiatives, business expansion, and the repayment of existing financial obligations.
Senco Gold positioned the acquisition as a strategic move to strengthen its digital and omnichannel retail capabilities, particularly to capture opportunities within the expanding young consumer demographic. The company cited Melorra's established design expertise and robust e-commerce infrastructure as complementary assets that will enhance Senco Gold's competitive positioning in the fast-growing online jewellery market.
